Dr. Koch has a special interest in all the different types of stroke.  In particular, he has expertise in the following conditions:

  • ·       Amyloid angiopathy
  • ·       Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD)
  • ·       Cerebral vasculitis
  • ·       Carotid and vertebral artery dissections
  • ·       Patent foramen ovale (PFO)
  • ·       Reversible vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS)
  • ·       Narrowing of the carotid and vertebral arteries
  • ·       Cerebral vein and sinus thrombosis

Dr. Koch obtained his medical degree from the Wake Forrest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1993.  He subsequently completed a neurology residency at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.  He obtained further sub-specialty training in cerebrovascular disease (stroke) during a two year fellowship at the University of Miami.  He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (1997) with further board certification in Vascular Neurology (2005).  He is also board certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons.
